Death in Care

HOME / ABOUT US

When someone passes away and is a resident in a care or residential home it can often be stressful and
confusing due to your loved one not being in your care.

When someone passes away and is a resident in a care home it can often be stressful and confusing as you might be some distance from the care home or possibly unable to visit the home.

The staff that have cared for your loved one at the home will notify you immediately after the passing of your loved one, in most cases if the death is expected they will invite you to visit the care home and say your final goodbye, if the death was sudden they will invite you to see your loved one if you would like too.

The death of your loved one will need be verified by their own GP, and corresponding surgery, in most cases where a person has passed away in care, the staff at the home will make sure this is taken care of on your behalf.

The GP will issue the medical certification and you will then be able to register the death.

For more information on registration please visit our registration page. The care home staff will then contact ourselves where we can arrange to bring your loved one into our care where they will rest in our Chapels of Rest.
